Staff working across all three schools:

    • Mrs Elisabeth Mellor - Executive Head Teacher & SENCo

I have been the Executive Head Teacher across the TIG Federation since September 2016. In my previous professional life, I have worked as a School Improvement Adviser with schools across Leeds and as a Head Teacher in Wakefield, Oxfordshire and Wales.

I live fairly locally to the three schools with my children and my cat. In my spare time, I like to spend time outside, running, walking, gardening and swimming.

    • Mrs Lisa Appleton - Assistant Head Teacher & SENCo

I have been Assistant Headteacher across our TIG Federation since September 2016. I thoroughly enjoy the challenge of leading Literacy and feel passionately about pupil voice and children leading their own learning where possible, making for independent learners.

Out of school, I love spending time with my family and three children and walking my dog. I also love the chance to bake cakes and experiment with new recipes. I love to go running and take part in the occasional 10K races, and if the opportunity arises, love to get my nose into a good book!

Prior to moving into schools, I worked in higher education administration and events management. • Mrs Lisa Appleton - Teacher in Elder class (Years 5-6) (and Assistant Head Teacher)

I joined the Kirk Hammerton C of E Primary school team in September 2016 as the Assistant Headteacher across our TIG Federation.

  • Mrs Enelise Pyle - Teacher in Elder class (Years 5-6)

I completed a BA Hons in Key Stage 2 and 3 education with English in 2009, after which I spent some fantastic and precious years being a stay-at-home mum to my 3 girls. Once all were at school, I went back into teaching and completed a PGCE with All Saints Primary School in Ilkley.

I am a believer in growth mindset and that children learn and develop best when they believe that they ‘can’. As such, I aim to foster an environment that values learning and encourages independence and the motivation to keep trying. I am excited to be teaching Class 3 part-time and look forward to the challenges and fun that will ensue.  In my spare time I like to go for walks or play games with my family. I love music, dance and drama and try to go to the theatre as often as I can.

  • Mrs Annie Maguire - Teacher in Willow class (Years 2-4)

After gaining my PGCE at the Institute of Education in London, I worked in South East London as a Primary School Teacher. After moving to Yorkshire I did supply work across the county in a variety of schools, before joining Kirk Hammerton CE Primary School in January 2016.  I enjoy encouraging a love of learning through teaching a creative and varied curriculum.

I am a mother of two girls and we all enjoy spending time in the countryside walking our crazy dog, Buddy. In my spare time I enjoy reading, crafts and going swimming.

  • Mrs Vikki Fox - General Teaching Assistant

I first joined Staveley in September 2012 as a volunteer to gain practical experience whilst completing my CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools.  This led to a permanent position as GTA, working initially at Staveley and more recently at Kirk Hammerton where I work with children across all year groups at some stage of my working week.

I have gained invaluable experience over the last five years, enabling me to help and support the learning of all children and encourage them to achieve their potential - a job I really enjoy. Outside of work, family life keeps me busy with my own boys who are both at High School now.

  • Mrs Kathryn Askew - Base Leader and Teacher in Apple class (Nursery, Reception, Year 1)

I was lucky enough to join the Staveley & TIG team in September 2021. I am the EYFS leader for the federation and work closely with the EYFS teams across the three schools. I started my career as a Nursery Nurse and gained my NNEB Diploma in 1997. I have educated and nurtured young children for over 25 years in a variety of settings including day nurseries, large community schools and smaller village schools. I trained to be a Specialist Teaching Assistant and a Higher Level Teaching Assistant and covered classes for over ten years. In 2012 I went on to study for a degree and gained a Foundation Degree in Supporting Learning followed by a BA (Hons) degree in Learning and Teaching Primary Education with QTS. I have been teaching my own class for the last six years and have loved every minute. I provide the best outcomes for the children and deliver a high-quality EYFS education, giving children a secure and confident start to their school life. I am committed to nurturing a lifelong love of learning alongside the aims of the EYFS Statutory Framework and I strive for high standards, consider the development of the whole child, and seek to foster resilience and independence.

I enjoy spending time with my husband and my three older children. I also have three lhasa apsos who I adore!

  • Mrs Kathy Hartshorn - Teacher in Oak class (Years 2-3)

I have a BSc (Hons) in Hotel and Catering Management from Oxford Polytechnic. This qualification led to me working for several years in the brewing industry! After having my three children, Mrs Hartshorn took on the role as a special needs teaching assistant before starting a 2 year PGCE course at the University of Cumbria. • Mr Richard Howson - Teacher in Sycamore class (Years 4-6)

I have a BA (Hons.) in History from 2004-2007 and MA in British History at Newcastle University in 2008. After that I became a Teaching Assistant in Harrogate, initially working one to one with children with BESD before becoming an HLTA. In 2012-13 I  took my PGCE at York St. John University. I enjoy history and travel and take particular interest in humanities and languages, especially French and German. I find a creative, cross-curricular approach to teaching and learning breeds a love of learning whereby pupils are able to actively construct their own educational development.

  • Mrs Nicky Whittaker - General Teaching Assistant

I joined Staveley School in October 2010 having completed a NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools. I worked previously as a secretary before leaving to raise a family. I very much enjoy working with the children and helping them to achieve their best potential both in work and play. It is hugely satisfying seeing children have that 'eureka' moment!

  • Mrs Ann Sturdy - General Teaching Assistant
I qualified in 2005 at  Liverpool Hope University with a BA QTS (Hons) which led me into teaching in local Primary Schools in North Yorkshire for a couple of years. In 2008, I decided I wanted to see a bit of the world and went travelling for a year to Thailand and Australia. On arriving back, I took up a position at a nursery in Harrogate leading the Pre-school for 7 years. I made the decision that I would like to get back to working in a school setting and have worked across the TIG Federation since September 2017. I really enjoy my role and being part of a happy team!
